Buddhism in India: Status Growth and Development
Buddhist World Press/B.R. Publishing Corporation; New Delhi, India; 2011; 9789380852133; Hardcover; New; New;
This book surveys in twelve chapters the March of Buddhism in India during the first 50 years of Independence (1947-1997). After giving decade by decade progress of the Buddhist revival movement, it analyses the contribution made by the Sri Lankan Monks, Monks from Myanmar, Indian Bhikkus, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Vipassana Movement, and described the important Buddha Viharas built during the last 50 years. In particular, the magnificent Buddhist Temples and Monasteries built by the Buddhists of South-East Asia are noteworthy. Buddhism in India has made tremendous progress during the period under review (1947-1997). As against less than two lakh Buddhist population in 1947, India now (1997) has nearly seventy lakh Buddhists. And to cater to the spiritual and religious needs of the ever-increasing Buddhist population, a large number of Bhikkhus has increased; and a good number of Buddhist societies and institutions are engaged in the preaching and preservation of the Dhamma. Hence, the future of Buddhism seems bright. Printed Pages: 218. 110322

Dhammapada: Message and Meaning
Buddhist World Press/B.R. Publishing Corporation; New Delhi, India; 2009; 8190638866 / 9788190638869; Hardcover; New; New;
The Dhammapada, which means `The Path of Virtue` or The Path of Truth` is the most valuable book for understanding Buddhism as it gives the essence of the Teachings of the Buddha. Hence, it is the most popular book amongst the Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. The Pali Dhammapada was in fact the first Buddhist text ever published in Europe. It was published with a Latin translation by a Danish professor, Victor Fausboll, in 1855. By now, it has become a world classic, and has been translated into almost all the major languages of the world. In this volume is presented an English translation of the Pali-Dhammapada by a distinguished Buddhist monk and Pali scholar, Venerable A.P. Buddhadatta of Sri Lanka. The Meaning and Message of the Dhammapada is analyzed and explained by eight eminent scholars, which include two Sri Lankan Buddhist monks, Ven. Narada and Yen. Piyadassi, Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi of America and five Indians namely, the well-known Osho, Ven. Acharya Buddharakkhita, Prof. L.M. Joshi. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and A.K. Bandyopadhyay. The Dhammapada is also available in Prakrit and Sanskrit languages. In the last chapter, the Editor makes an interesting comparative study of the Pali, Prakrit and Sanskrit Dhammapadas as well as their translations in the Chinese and Tibetan languages. All this information naturally makes this book a unique study of the Dhammapada. CONTENTS: Preface; 1. Dhammapadam : An Anthology of the Sayings of the Buddha/A.P. Buddhadatta 2. The Meaning of the Dhammapada/Osho 3. Dhammapada : An Introduction/Narada Maha Thera 4. Dhammapada - Gospel with a Timeless Message/Piyadssi Mahathera 5. Dhammapada : Its Three Primary Aims/Bhikkhu Bodhi 6. The Goal of Life According to the Dhammapada/Acharya Buddharakkhita 7. The Way to Nirvana According to the Dhammapada/L.M. Joshi 8. Dr. Ambedkar and Indian Constitution
Low Price Publications/D.K. Publishers Distributors Pvt. Ltd.; New Delhi, India; 1997; 8175360933 / 9788175360938; Softcover; New;
Dr. Ambedkar and Indian Constitution are now two inter-related words in the legal world. Whenever the Courts have to re-interpret any Article of the Constitution, they have to go to the origin of that Article, and the spirit behind it which the founding fathers had in mind. Thus, no student of law can do without proper understanding of the framing of the COnstitution of India. This book presents a remarkable analysis of the dynamic role played by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in the making of India`s Constitution, and demonstrates beyond doubt that he was in fact its Chief Architect. While doing so, the author has made an effort to present a comprehensive, though concise, story of the making of the Indian Constitution. Printed Pages: 200. 107360

B.R. Ambedkar (1891-1956), a multidimensional personality, is often hailed as the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution.
