The Waqi’at-e-Mushtaqui is a unique source of information about the life and conditions in India during the pre-Mughal times. Along with the Sultans and Nobles of different regions, it also describes in some detail Sufi saints, scholars, craftsmen, soldiers and daily-wage earners who belonged to different strata of society. It furnishes much information about the religious beliefs held, and the social customs and practices observed, by people at the lower levels of society. A portrait of the life and culture in India of the period emerges from it. This work in translation would be valued by scholars of different schools of thought and approaches.
