The author's articulation of the episodes of H.H. the sixteenth Karmapa in this book exudes the subtle aspects of compassion, serenity and fearlessness so naturally displayed by H.H. in his life even when challenged by severe terminal illness. At the same time, the author being a scientist himself, the readers of this book are fortunate not to miss the details of the book which would have perhaps sneaked out had the author been inclined towards piety. This book also paves the way to the scientists and the lay audience alike not to close the door to ponder upon the possibilities of the existence of various dimensions of reality unknown to the world of science at this moment. Paradigm-shift from the current belief of the ontological reality can happen to the present science anytime as happened at the time of the emergence of Theory of Relativity and Quantum Theory. This is a rare account of the last few weeks of the Karmapa's life. It is a true story by an Indian military doctor who attended on the 16th Karmapa during his treatment in hospitals around the world until his death on 5th November 1981 at the American International Cancer Hospital, in Chicago, U.S.A. Forty-five days before the Karmapa's death, in broad daylight, the doctor had seen the Karmapaís cremation while sitting in the latter's room in Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. On 20th December 1981, at the Karmapa's cremation, the doctor remembers having seen the same scene three months earlier and receiving a message from the Karmapa.Printed Pages: 274.
